Turns out American viewers will get to enjoy a little more title action this week. After DAZN stepped up to broadcast tomorrow morning’s Yokohama tripleheader, ESPN Deportes snagged the rights to air WBC light flyweight champion Panya Pradabsri’s title rematch with Carlos Canizales this coming Friday.
Things kick off at the standard U.S. prime time of 11:00 Eastern.
Pradabsri (44-2, 27 KO) enjoyed a lengthy title reign at minimumweight after yanking the title from Wanheng Menayothin before falling
to Yudai Shigeoka in hostile territory. When Kenshiro Teraji announced a move to 112, he took on longtime division dark horse Canizales (27-3-1, 19 KO) for the vacant belt in his hometown of Bangkok and walked away with it thanks to some egregious home cooking.
It was bad enough that the WBC immediately ordered a rematch, which wound up landing in Canizales’ backyard of Caracas, Venezuela.
It’s good stuff for a Friday night, provided that the letter ñ doesn’t scare you.
