Rachel Laws officially renewed her contract today, and the 34-year-old goalkeeper will stay on Merseyside to add to her 108 total appearances for Liverpool.
Laws spoke to Liverpoolfc.com about her decision, which was not a difficult one for her:
Over the summer it was a no-brainer when the club said they wanted to keep me here. This is my home – I’ve got a house here – and it was a no-brainer. When they said they wanted to keep me I was like, ‘Where do I sign?’ I’m looking forward to the next year
ADor so.
The fans have been fantastic for me from day one and not just [now] but my first spell as well they welcomed me with open arms. I like to repay them in the best way I can – whether that is by good performances or wins. The fans have been a pivotal part of my time here and long may that continue.
Liverpool’s No. 1 has been pivotal during her time at the club, and has done a lot of outreach at the youth level with local girls’ teams as well. Laws has been a Red since 2020, though she also won the WSL with Liverpool in 2013 while on loan from Sunderland.
She won the Golden Glove in Liverpool’s promotion season back in 2021/22, and made 20 appearances in the WSL last season.
Though news around signings and moves for the Reds has not been encouraging in this window, that Laws is staying alongside some newer faces suggests some stability at the back at least.
