The trade deadline has passed, the Yankees’ roster is locked in for the stretch run, and they wasted no time in stumbling over themselves out of the gate. After shaking up the bullpen big time with three deadline day additions, New York saw them all blow leads for them in a wild 13-12 extra-inning loss to the Marlins, and then do next to nothing on offense en route to getting swept. Everything that could go wrong did, and now the Yankees are staring at multiple teams above them as they sit in third
place.
The vibes are simply not good around this team right now. They’re punting the ball around the field and tossing meat balls at the most inopportune times. They’re not losing by much often but they’ve lost far too many games to feel like they’re competitive with the top teams right now. Are they in a funk, or just not good enough to pull themselves out of it? Will Aaron Judge’s return change things, or are they in their own way too much? Is this the breaking point for Aaron Boone’s managerial tenure? If you have questions like this, or anything else on your mind, send ‘em in for a chance to be featured in our Yankees mailbag.
Answers will run on Friday afternoon. All questions received by the night of August 7th will be considered. You can leave your submissions in the comment section below or by e-mail to pinstripealleyblog [at] gmail [dot] com.
