The New England Patriots have added from the UFL depths.
The organization signed linebacker R.J. Moten on Tuesday, as first reported by James Larsen of Pro Football Newsroom, and placed fullback Brock Lampe on injured reserve in a corresponding move.
Moten, 23, was on hand for practice and wearing No. 46. Unselected in the 2025 NFL draft, the 6-foot, 229-pound hybrid tried out at rookie minicamp in Foxborough before joining the Michigan Panthers late in the UFL’s spring season. He re-signed to begin
July. Moten appeared in 48 games, including 16 starts at safety, while a member of the Michigan Wolverines and Florida Gators. He served as a reserve linebacker and core special-teamer last fall in Gainesville. From the Big Ten to the SEC, the collegiate run dated back to 2020 and spanned 96 tackles, 3.5 sacks and a pair of interceptions.
Lampe, 22, had been assigned No. 46 on offensive side of the ball after agreeing to terms as part of the 2025 undrafted class. Barring an injury settlement at a later date, his rookie campaign has ended on injured reserve a week into training camp. Lampe appeared in 47 consecutive games at fullback for Northern Illinois. The 6-foot-1, 249-pound lead blocker’s tenure in the MAC brought 18 receptions for 216 yards, 20 carries for 66 yards and three combined touchdowns.
New England’s active roster remains at 91 when accounting for defensive tackle David Olajiga’s exemption through the NFL’s International Player Pathway.
