WHAT'S THE STORY?

Is Bayern open to a big move we haven’t already heard about during this window? (Football Transfers)

Is this the reason Bayern Munich is slow-playing the talks with VfB Stuttgart over Nick Woltemade?

It seems like a longshot, but getting Benjamin Šeško at this price-point could be a very advantageous deal for the Bavarians:

Šeško, like Woltemade, has the type of profile that would be appealing to Bayern Munich and it is no secret that the Bavarians are big fans of the striker

— so much so that they thought about bringing him in to play with Harry Kane.

Sure, it could just be the oddball idea of this writer, but maybe this is one to keep an eye on.

Sterling to Leverkusen? (talkSPORT via ESPN)

After suffering through so many key losses, one report indicates that Bayer Leverkusen could make a play for Raheem Sterling:

Bayer Leverkusen and Juventus are both interested in Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling, who has been expected to leave since being left out of the Blues’ Club World Cup squad.

While Bayern Leverkusen is being dealt death by a million paper cuts this summer, any rumors linking the club to a quick fix with Sterling are not true, per Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg:

Rumours linking Bayer 04 Leverkusen with Raheem #Sterling are wide of the mark.

The 30 y/o is a top and experienced winger. However, he is not a target for Leverkusen.

Bayern Munich is working on hard a few deals, but could also be working through issues internally. Let’s talk about what came out of the news this week and if Bayern Munich fans should be concerned, on this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show:

  • Thomas Müller to LAFC?
  • Is there a disconnect in the Bayern Munich front office — and also with the club’s supervisory board?
  • VfB Stuttgart could be just as wacky as Bayern Munich these days...let’s talk about why?
  • Hiroki Itō, Alphonso Davies, and Jamal Musiala were all spotted at Säbener Straße this week. Let’s talk about where things stand for each of them on their respective roads to recovery.

PSG a player for Rodrygo, too? (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)

With Liverpool being closely linked to Real Madrid’s Rodrygo these days, it looks like Paris Saint-German would like to throw its hat into the ring to challenge the Reds for the Brazilian:

Understand that not only Liverpool but also Paris Saint-Germain are closely monitoring #Rodrygo’s situation.

#PSG have expressed their interest and continue to look out for a new young top winger, as revealed. Their approach will depend on market opportunities.

Of all the teams in Europe at the moment, PSG would seemingly need Rodrygo the least. As of now, Liverpool still feels like the most likely destination.

Real Madrid has not given up hope on eventually signing Manchester City star Rodri (ESPN)

Real Madrid is still interested in Manchester City star Rodri:

Real Madrid remain interested in signing Manchester City midfielder Rodri, despite his recent long-term injury, says AS. Rodri, 29, has now recovered from a serious knee injury but the Ballon d’Or winner barely played last season as City struggled in his absence. Madrid are ready to wait for the Spain international and are prepared to spend around €100m, though he is set to enter the final year of his contract in 2026 and could be available for less.

Bayern Munich’s summer transfer window could be heating up very soon.

The dominoes are falling all around Bayern Munich and each move should open up things for another. After a relatively quiet and composed approach to squad planning for the summer, it is time to start wheeling-and-dealing.

Let’s get into all of that on this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show:

  • With a move for Hugo Ekitiké getting close, the reality is that Bayern Munich is likely going to get Luis Diaz…whether fans like it or not. Let’s discuss…
  • Bayern Munich has reportedly exited talks with VfB Stuttgart for Nick Woltemade to focus on a deal for Diaz. What should fans think? Will Bayern return to the negotiating table? Is this all spiraling out of control?
  • It might just be time for Bayern Munich to rip off the band-aid. If there are options to sell Kim Min-jae, João Palhinha, and Sacha Boey, Bayern Munich should just unload them. It is time to stop thinking patience is a virtue with every player who underperforms.
  • A final note on Florian Wirtz as Bayer Leverkusen’s CEO gloats over Bayern’s failure to land the star player.

Napoli could make play for Grealish (ESPN)

Napoli could be thinking about a move for Manchester City wantaway Jack Grealish:

Corriere dello Sport has offered an insight into Napoli’s search for attacking reinforcements after they stepped back from Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman. They could look to bring in Manchester City winger Jack Grealish to reunite him with Kevin De Bruyne, as it’s an uphill battle to sign Dan Ndoye with Bologna demanding €45m-€50m. Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa could be an option on a permanent or loan deal, while RB Leipzig’s Antonio Nusa is also on their list of options. Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Lookman is focused on joining Internazionale, but Atalanta want €50m as opposed to the €40m that is on the table. Calciomercato says Chiesa is also wanted by AC Milan, Roma, Juventus and Inter Milan.

Big clubs eyeing Barca’s Koundé (ESPN)

Manchester City is among the teams keeping an eye on Jules Koundé:

Manchester City and another “top-tier club” have made enquiries about Barcelona defender Jules Koundé, as reported by RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins. Even so, there have been negotiations for several weeks regarding a contract extension with Barca for the 26-year-old and a positive outcome is hoped for by all parties. The France international has a contract that runs until 2027 but the Blaugrana value him highly and consider him as the world’s best player in his position.
