Burger to the i.l., Osuna up

WHAT'S THE STORY?

First baseman Jake Burger has been placed on the 10 day injured list with a wrist sprain, the team announced today. To take his place on the active roster, the Rangers have recalled outfielder Alejandro Osuna.

who was acquired over the offseason to be the team’s primary first baseman. This is Burger’s third trip to the injured list, and he also spent a week and a half in AAA after being sent down earlier this season. He has slashed .242/.275/.416 this season in 309 plate appearances for Texas, with an impressive (in a way) 74/10 K/BB ratio.

The three position players who were in the minors and on the 40 man roster were Osuna, Justin Foscue and Michael Helman. Osuna is hitting .158/.290/.211 in the majors this season in 93 plate appearances, though he has three more walks that Burger in 206 fewer plate appearances, as well as 20 Ks. He has a .193 BABIP dragging his numbers down.
