Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take
ADit all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp indicates that WWE’s priority with Goldberg’s last match was more about scheduling it on the same weekend as AEW All In Texas rather than giving him a proper send-off.
- For whatever it’s worth, Sapp is pretty sure that AEW offered Goldberg “a legit retirement run” at one point.
- WrestleVotes Radio says WWE has discussed an idea of sending Omos to Mexico to work in AAA, just like how he went to Japan for a stint in Pro Wrestling NOAH at the beginning of this year.
- Per Votes, WWE has big plans to market Jacob Fatu to a broader audience, which includes city-themed merchandise.
- The outlet also claims there have been talks about other WWE main roster stars appearing at TNA Slammiversary in addition to AJ Styles.
- While discussing Kazuchika Okada’s new entrance song in AEW, Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer suggests the idea is for him to have worse music so the fans don’t cheer for it.
- For whatever it’s worth, Luchablog believes that Hechicero is signed to an AEW contract. The idea is that he’s under a dual deal where he’s also working in CMLL. The deal was supposed to be made official around the time of Grand Slam Mexico, but it got delayed.
