The New York Giants are expected to sign a running back, per head coach Brian Daboll.
The Giants suddenly find themselves shorthanded at the position with Eric Gray on the PUP list and rookie Cam Skattebo suffering a setback with his hamstring injury last week. Fellow rookie Rushawn Baker also remains sidelined with a knee injury.
Daboll said that the team is hosting tryouts on Monday and expect to sign a back after those conclude. He also clarified that the outlook for Skattebo is optimistic. The
rookie had an MRI over the weekend and tests came back clean.
However, hamstring injuries are notoriously tricky and even relatively mild ones can take time to fully resolve. For now, the Giants have just Tyrone Tracy, Devin Singletary, and Dante Miller as their only healthy backs.
