Hello and welcome back to FanPost Friday. We have not checked in on the Mariners Belief Index (MBI) since May 16 and given the recent very positive trade deadline moves, I figured it was high-time we checked in on the ol’ MBI. Previously, this was known here as the monthly “vibe check,” which maybe we should go back to given the return of Vibes Connoisseur Eugenio Suárez, but 2025 has been it’s own beast so we’ll stick with the MBI for now.

Here’s a brief overview of last time’s results:
- For “Do you believe in these Seattle Mariners?”, the winning choice was “I am delighted, but skeptical” at 54% (no, I am not making that up).
- For the pitching staff, 77% of you agreed that “When Kirby (and LoGi and Bryce) come back, it’s over for you b*tches,” and except for Bryce, y’all were very right about that.
- “Andres Muñoz por vida” was the winning bullpen answer at 38% (/Mathilda purrs in agreement)
- And when it came to the hitters, 40% of y’all went with “I am delighted, but skeptical” again, which yeah, we are Mariners fans conditioned to forever deal with questionable hitting (but I must point out that the Mariners offense is, against all odds and conditioned wisdom, ranked second in the AL by OPS+, right behind the Yankees. They also rank 5th in team OBP in the AL)
All right,
let’s check that MBI!
Get your votes in, have a great August Friday, and let’s go Mariners!!!
