Roman Reigns’ growth continues, as Jey Uso scores the win

WHAT'S THE STORY?

For the first time in its history, WWE decided to hold its annual SummerSlam premium live event over two nights from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey this year. They started those two nights this evening (Sat., Aug. 2, 2025) with the crown jewel of the roster, Roman Reigns, teaming up with Jey Uso to take on the team of Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed in a tag team match.

Not exactly the greatest showcase for one of the top stars of the industry over the last decade+ but, it added real

depth to a loaded weekend of action.

But hey, he’s still that guy.

Meanwhile, Breakker continued establishing himself as a star in the making, doing his usual violence in the form of flying spears all over the place but also mixing in singing a song to Reigns while working over Uso.

The guy is versatile. He’s got it all, folks.

They proceeded to have an surprisingly strong match filled with fun spots, like Reigns flying through the air and nearly ending it all:

Before Reed did the same:

Ultimately, we saw Reigns do something big and it lead to his team scoring the victory — he pushed Jey out of the way and took a spear from Breakker. Commentary made sure to point out his sacrifice, that he took the bullet for his cousin.

Jey followed up by hitting the spear and splash on Reed to score the pinfall and the victory.

The Bloodline remains strong.
