Newcastle United will not sanction a sale of Alexander Isak unless they secure a top striker to replace him, according to the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope.
Isak remains the subject of strong interest from Liverpool
, but Hope reports that the striker’s exit hinges on whether Newcastle can land RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko — a deal that now appears unlikely.“A sale will only be sanctioned on Newcastle’s terms,” Hope wrote. “They will not leave themselves without a top striker.”
The striker’s future
has become increasingly complicated. Hope revealed that Isak has long wanted to explore options this summer and felt let down after not receiving a new contract last year, despite informal promises.
Isak is currently using training facilities at Real Sociedad, his former club — a move Newcastle have not commented on.
“If injured as he claims, he should be doing his rehab with the club he plays for,” Hope wrote.
Meanwhile, Hope revealed that no significant progress has been made on stadium redevelopment, as promised by PIF ages ago. Hope said “nothing is imminent,” citing ongoing delays and the need for Saudi ownership sign-off.
With no signings finalized beyond Aaron Ramsdale and Anthony Elanga, Hope summed up the mood around the fanbase in what is becoming a bright-turning-dark era for the Magpies.
“Every day brings another cloud,” Hope stated.
