Well, we now know another Tottenham Hotspur player who won’t be playing against Reading in the team’s first friendly today. The club confirmed that 20-year-old defender Alfie Dorrington will be returning to Scotland, rejoining Aberdeen on loan for the second straight season.
Alfie Dorrington has rejoined Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen on loan for the 2025/26 season.

Good luck, Alfie!
Alfie went to Aberdeen for the second half of last season, and while he didn’t initially step into the starting
lineup, by the end he was a regular, starting the team’s last seven matches. Aberdeen notably knocked off Celtic in a penalty shootout to win the Scottish Cup (despite Dorrington scoring an own goal in regular time to open the scoring), and from what I can gather the Aberdeen fans liked him quite a bit.
Dorrington is only 20 which is pretty dang young for a central defender, especially one who wants to make it at Tottenham Hotspur. He’s probably eight choice CB right now at Spurs, so a loan probably makes sense. I’d have expected him to maybe be loaned out to the Championship this season, but the SPL is probably an equivalent league and we know he already fits in at Aberdeen.
This loan doesn’t really make me think Dorrington is ready for prime time, but also he’s so young sending him back on loan to Scotland might not be the worst thing. If he kicks on this season that would be a good development.
