UFC BJJ 2 saw two brothers, a new champion, and a teenage phenom make huge statement wins.

The main event match between Andrew Tackett and Renato Canuto

was billed as a title match that would guarantee fireworks, and it delivered just that. The second title bout on the card also produced a highlight reel finish from a card that had six entertaining submissions in eight matches.

finishes. Both Tackett and Renato Canuto are known for their incredibly aggressive styles, and the opening few sequences were as fast and as crazy at it gets.

Both competitors were in some crazy scrambles and wild submission exchanges early, but the champion seemed to be just one step ahead in just about every transition. After chaining a few submissions from bottom, Tackett eventually got on top and passed his guard before locking up a nice darce choke.

Canuto defended well and tried to survive to the bell, but Tackett just rolled through and finished from mount for a much tighter choke.

Tackett refused to call out anyone after the win, but with Mica Galvao and Kade Ruotolo locked up with other BJJ promotions, I do hope his next title defense is against other top level pros like Jozef Chen or Levi Jones-Leary.

Mason Fowler wins inaugural UFC BJJ light heavyweight belt

Mason Fowler is now the first ever UFC BJJ light heavyweight champion, and he continued to add on to his already impressive highlight reel.

In the co-headliner, the two-time ADCC Trials winner came in as a massive favorite and he quickly proved why as he dominated the lesser known David Garmo.

Fowler made easy work of his smaller and slightly older opponent, then called for a step up in competition after. The new champion took the mic and asked to defend his title against the likes of Lucas Barbosa, Pedro Machado or Devhonte Johnson.

William Tackett, Jalen Fonacier get nasty submissions at UFC BJJ 2

The Tackett Brothers had a great evening at UFC BJJ 2. Just like his champion brother, William Tackett absolutely dominated in one of the key matches from the card. The older Tackett avenged a previous loss from Kyle Chambers when he was younger, and the rematch six years later didn’t even look close.

William passed his guard like a buzzsaw and dominated from top control. He eventually used an arm-triangle threat to take the back and quickly finish with a first round rear naked choke.

Her husband may have lost, but Raquel Canuto won big at UFC BJJ 2, landing a pretty slick knee bar against a high level opponent in ADCC Trials winner Mo Black. Canuto was coming off a defeat against the reigning ADCC champion Ana Vieira at UFC FPI 11, and rebounded nicely here from her first loss in the promotion.

Kicking off the UFC BJJ 2 card was a really good performance from teenage jiu-jitsu phenom Jalen Fonacier. The 19-year-old Filipino world champion won in a little over a minute, landing a nasty submission over two-time no gi world champ Everton Teixeira that caused “multiple pops.”

Also getting submission wins on the card, are Aurelie Le Vern, “Cobrinha Jr” Kennedy Maciel and Mikey’s sister Tammi Musumeci.
