Jude Bellingham’s road to recovery has officially begun.
The Real Madrid midfielder underwent successful surgery on his left shoulder earlier this week in London, and has now shared a personal message with fans via social media. The operation was performed at the Fortius Clinic, where Bellingham is now recovering before beginning his rehabilitation process.
“Thank you to Andrew Wallace and Susan Alexander, their team, and everyone at the Fortius Clinic for the surgery and hospitality,” Bellingham wrote.
AD“To Iván Ortega and Dr. Leyes for traveling to support me. And finally, to everyone else for the well wishes and messages of love. The process of my return has already begun, see you soon.”
The injury — one he’s been managing since November 2023 — had increasingly limited Bellingham’s mobility and performance, especially during the latter stages of last season. Despite the discomfort, he remained an integral part of Real Madrid’s starting XI. There is real excitement now that Bellingham will be playing without the the hinderance of the shoulder strap.
After months of trying to push through the pain, both the club’s medical team and the player agreed that surgery was the necessary next step to ensure full recovery ahead of a long and demanding season.
Bellingham is expected to be sidelined until mid-to-late October, a significant blow for new manager Xabi Alonso, who was counting on the Englishman as a key figure in midfield from the outset. If his recovery stays on track, Bellingham could return just after the international break — potentially in time for the season’s first Madrid derby at the Metropolitano.
