After a brief and rather fruitful negotiation process, Chelsea have agreed the transfer of Jorrel Hato from Ajax Amsterdam, according to the all the oracles in the oracleverse. The 19-year-old left back is set to sign a seven-year contract good through 2032, by which time we might have flying cars.
Talks between the two clubs threatened to drag on for a bit after our initial bid was rejected and Ajax countered with a number that was 50 per cent higher, but Chelsea were able to take control of the situation
and agree a fixed fee of “just” £37m (€43m). Ajax do get a small win as well, reportedly retaining a sell-on clause of an unspecified percentage. But overall, in today’s market, this seems like a pretty decent deal for the Blues.
Most importantly, we now have a proper backup for Marc Cucurella who may have Samson-esque superpowers but even he might need a rest every once in a while.
EXCL: Chelsea reach total agreement with Ajax to sign Jorrel Hato, subject to #Ajax supervisory board approval. Fee above of €40m + sell-on. Pending green light 19yo defender to travel to London for medical & join #CFC on deal until 2032 @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/cEIzA79C4v
