Well, it’s set. João Palhinha is going back to England.
The Portuguese midfielder, since coming to Bayern Munich in 2024, has struggled for regular playing time and a spot in the starting XI. A move back to Premier League, therefore, makes sense. Tottenham Hotspur are a solid option, as the squad is currently building towards securing more trophies. Also, Spurs manager Thomas Frank highly rates Palhinha and sees him as a part of his plans.
When asked about the midfielder’s move, and how things were
falling in place, sporting director Christoph Freund assured that things were going well.
“If everything goes smoothly, it won’t drag on forever. Soon,” Freund confirmed in comments captured via @iMiaSanMia.
Financially, this loan with an option to buy is perfect for Bayern. The club also gets to offload a player whom they haven’t been able to utilize much, so this is perhaps as well as things can go.
