With training camp underway around the league and roster cuts coming up fast, we decided to take a look around the NFL to determine potential roster cuts the Dallas Cowboys could be interested in. Whether it was due to financial reasons, scheme fit, or a crowded depth chart the players we've listed below are the potential cut candidates who could make sense for the Cowboys.

DT Zachh Pickens, Chicago Bears

Pickens, the 64th overall pick in the third round in 2023, already has a link to Dallas through Matt Eberflus, then the Bears

head coach and now the Cowboys defensive coordinator. He hasn't quite lived up to expectations in his two seasons in Chicago and faces an uphill battle to make it through roster cuts this year. He only managed 1.5 QB sacks in two years and Chicago currently has a logjam at DT with Grady Jarrett, Shemar Turner, Andrew Billings, and Garvon Dexter. Because of that, he could be cut before his rookie contract expires.

RB Travis Etienne, Jacksonville Jaguars

Etienne had back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons in his first two years the league, but sadly dropped off dramatically in 2024. He managed only 558 rushing yards for two touchdowns and 3.7 yards per carry last year, getting outperformed by then-rookie Tank Bigsby. After a down year last year, the 26-year-old could find himself a cut candidate after Jacksonville drafted a couple of talented rookie RBs, Bhayshul Tuten and LaQuint Allen. Given Dallas' questionable RB position right now, Etienne could potentially be a fit.

CB Ja'Quan McMillan, Denver Broncos

McMillan was an exclusive rights free agent this offseason, receiving a one-year $1.03 million tender. He was a starter in 2024, but has now been pushed back on the depth chart after Denver drafted Jahdae Barron in the first round. Barron will take over the slot CB duties in his rookie season with Patrick Surtain and Riley Moss playing on the outside. He could be an experienced depth beats in Denver, however, he could also be a surprise cut candidate. If so, he should be of interest to Dallas who could use a starter/depth in the slot.
