The 2025 MLB Draft concluded this past Monday as nine Georgia Bulldogs got their name called, making it the most draft picks they've had since 2019.
Pitchers, J.T. Quinn and Brian Curley, heard their names called on night one of the draft, with Quinn being selected by the Baltimore Orioles with the 69th overall pick and Curley being taken at 92nd overall by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
On day two, seven more Dawgs were selected. Leighton Finley would be first off the board, going to the Boston Red Sox
at 178th overall. A few rounds later, Georgia’s only position player to be selected in Slate Alford, was taken by the Los Angeles Angels at 259th overall.
A few more Dawg pitchers would be selected later on to wrap things up. Tyler McLoughlin was taken by the New York Mets in the 10th round at 313th overall. A few picks later at 317, Zach Harris would be picked up by the Colorado Rockies. A couple of picks later, the Los Angeles Angels picked another Dawg, in reliever Alton Davis II at 319th overall. One round later, at 368th overall, the Kansas City Royals drafted Matthew Hoskins. The final Dawg taken in this year’s draft was Davis Chastain, who was picked at 435th overall by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Ryland Zaborowski is currently the only undrafted free agent from the Dawgs team that has been picked up by a Major League organization, as the Georgia slugger will sign with the Los Angeles Angels.
With that being said, more Dawgs should sign undrafted free agent contracts in the near future. Especially Robbie Burnett, who has yet to sign with an organization, and considering Burnett was a First Team All-American, and a semi-finalist for the Golden Spikes award and Dick Howser trophy, I would be shocked if he doesn’t find a home soon.
Anyways, congratulations to these Dawgs as they embark on the next chapter of their Baseball career.
