The Yankees had an inauspicious beginning to the second half last night, falling behind the Braves early in their bullpen game and staying behind the rest of the way. The 7-3 loss continued a run of shockingly poor play away from Yankee Stadium over the past few weeks:
Yankees Last 14 Road Games:

2- 12, 85 Runs Allowed
This is the 1st time since August 1945 that the Yankees had a span of 14 Road Games with 12+ Losses and 85+ Runs Allowed.
Rookie Will Warren's last two starts have come at home, but
his start before that was a disaster in Toronto. Those two home starts helped to right the ship, but he didn't rack up a lot of strikeouts, which has been his strength this year: his last start, he managed just one K and skated around a lot of hard contact. The Yankees would prefer to get more than five innings out of Warren after last night's bullpen game, and getting swings and misses would go a long way towards him going a long way, so to speak. (They were at least able to avoid their highest-leverage relievers, and they also swapped in Allan Winans for Rico García to get a fresh arm.)
The Yankee offense will face lefty Joey Wentz, who is already on his third team in 2025. Wentz started the year with the Pirates, and while he wasn't bad, Pittsburgh designated him for assignment early in June. The Twins claimed him off waivers and he had an awful time with Minnesota, pitching to an ERA over 15.00 before being designated once more. Atlanta brought him aboard last week and he impressed with three scoreless innings and six strikeouts against the Cardinals in his first game with the new club.
It's likely that Braves skipper Brian Snitker will only look for a similar amount of work out of Wentz today, so keep an eye out for recently-acquired righty Dane Dunning. The 2023 World Series champion starting pitcher will reportedly be used as a long reliever for now. Dunning had just 10.2 MLB innings this year and was in Triple-A Round Rock before being traded to the Braves for José Ruiz. Dunning has had success in his career against the Yankees: a 2.33 ERA in 27 innings.
The Yankees have shuffled their lineup to face Wentz, with Paul Goldschmidt reentering the leadoff spot and Trent Grisham being bumped down to the sixth spot. Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton will hit back-to-back between Cody Bellinger and Jazz Chisholm Jr. Unsurprisingly, Oswald Peraza returns to the hot corner after whatever that was from Jorbit Vivas last night.
