(40-59) Gwinnett Stripers 0, (51-46) Memphis Redbirds 5

  • Domingo Gonzalez, RP: 2.1IP 0H 0R 1BB 2K, 4.78 ERA
  • Hayden Harris, RP: 1IP 1H 0R 1BB 1K, 0.77 ERA
  • Daysbel Hernández, RP: 1IP 1H 0R 0BB 0K, 0.00 ERA
  • Carlos Rodríguez, LF: 2-for-4, .278/.351/.349

Box Score

The Stripers dropped a rough one as the offense could not get things going what so ever in this game. They went down early in the game after Austin Cox, getting the spot start, gave up three runs in the bottom of the first including a two run homer. After the Stripers offense went 0-for-9 the first time through the lineup, the Redbirds added another run in the third via another homer to go up 4-0.

The Stripers would respond by getting a single (!!!!!) in the top of the fourth by Carlos Rodríguez,

but Eddys Leonard would ground into a double play and Luke Waddell would strikeout to quickly end the threat. An error in the fourth by Cody Milligan allowed another run to scored in the the fourth inning to push the lead to 5-0.

Gwinnett would collect five hits over the games remaining five innings but couldn’t break through. In the fifth Jason Delay doubled with two outs, but wouldn’t be driven in. In the eighth they would get two on with one out but would fail to score there as well. They would also threaten in the ninth with two on and zero out but would go strikeout, strikeout, and fly out to end the threat, and the game.

(49-39) Chattanooga Lookouts 3, (37-52) Columbus Clingstones 0 - SUSPENDED Top 1

(39-51) Rome Emperors 1, (54-36) Hudson Valley Renegades 8

  • Herick Hernandez, SP: 3.2IP 4H 3ER 5BB 3K 1HR, 4.60 ERA
  • Ambioris Tavarez, SS: 0-for-3, BB, RBI, .233/.340/.315
  • Justin Janas, RF: 1-for-4, R, .271/.340/.376

Box Score

I’ll make this short as there isn’t much to report on this game. After a nice stretch of games for Herick Hernandez, his command was not to be found as he walked five in under four innings today. He struggled in the first allowing a lead off single and followed that up with a run scoring double. After a quick first out, he would allow a two run homer to go down 3-0 in the bottom of the first. The Emperors didn’t have a chance after that.

Just about every time the Emperors offense threatened, it could not get the big hit, going 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position. Their lone run came in the fourth inning when Justin Janas double to straight center on a pitch down in the zone. He would then take third on a wild pitch, and then come in to score on a ground out by Ambioris Tavarez. They would threaten in the fifth, and eighth inning but ultimately couldn’t find the big hit to get anything going.

Riley Frey and Isaac Gallegos would work the games final three innings but would give up runs in the eighth and ninth innings to run away with the game.

(47-44) Augusta GreenJackets 8, (50-42) Hickory Crawdads 5

  • Owen Carey, RF: 2-for-5, 2B, SB (13), RBI, R, .261/.337/.347
  • Isaiah Drake, LF: 2-for-5, RBI, R, .253/.339/.350
  • Luis Guanipa, DH: 3-for-5, RBI, R, .256/.322/.293
  • Juan Mateo, SS: 2-for-5, RBI, R, .265/.340/.308
  • Jeremy Reyes, SP: 3.2IP 3H 1R 0ER 5BB 6K, 2.96 ERA

Box Score

An overall wildly entertaining if not frustrating game from a pitching standpoint. Jeremy Reyes was wildly effective as he walked five in less than four innings. He also struck out six over those same amount of innings so the final result was just one unearned run. That unearned run came in the third when he had a throwing error that allowed the runner to get to second before coming in a double with two outs. The walks would just compound for Jeremy but overall, an okay outing.

The fun came on offense as the GreenJackets constantly threatened throughout the game - collecting 15 hits and ultimately scoring eight runs. Hitters two through eight got all fifteen of the hits including multi-hit games for seven of them. The seventh inning was specifically crazy as eight hitters came up to the plate with four singles, and two walks, and a stolen base - scoring four runs in that inning. Colson Lawrence struggled in his inning of work, in the bottom of the seventh, allowing four earned runs of his own in the bottom of the eighth inning to once again tie the game at 5-5.

After exchanging zeroes in the eighth, the GreenJackets would put the game away in the ninth - scoring three runs. What was the game winning run came in a particularly hilarious way as Owen Carey reached first via an error, stole second, then took third on an errant throw by the catcher, and then came home when the centerfielder committed the second throwing error of the play (I feel weird linking myself but it was hilarious watching Owen dive three times in one play).

(21-37) FCL Braves 6, (27-32) FCL Pirates 2

  • Jose Perdomo, DH: 2-for-4, R, .223/.275/.270
  • John Gil, SS: 0-for-2, 2 BB, R, .223/.323/.288
  • Manuel Dos Passos, C: 1-for-3, 2 RBI, BB, 2 R, .222/.361/.325
  • Michael Martinez, LF: 1-for-3, 2 RBI, R, .284/.387/.579
  • Kendy Richard, SP: 5IP 1H 1R 2BB 5K, 1.81 ERA

Box Score

The final game of the FCL schedule ended on a good note in a rather rough season for the FCL Braves. Jose Perdomo who has struggled mightily this season had a two hit game and scored a run. While there’s a chance the Braves move him to Augusta to continue his season, it’s more likely that he goes to instructs and ends his season. Manuel Dos Passos, ad Michael Martinez both drove in a pair of runs and have seen their stock in the organization rise. Manuel and his solid contact ability and good speed out of the catching position, and Michael Martinez with his 100+ MPH EVs, and showing a potential promising bat.

Kendy Richard had a very good game - striking out five over five innings of work and lowering his season ERA down to 1.81 (10 games, 6 starts). He’s made a name for himself with a 9 K/9 and 3.6 BB/9 rate. He features a four-seam (~92 MPH), two-seam (~90 MPH), slider (~82 MPH), and changeup - a name to follow early next year when he likely makes his full season debut.

(24-13) DSL Astros Blue 5, (14-21) DSL Braves 2

  • Angel Carmona, SS: 0-for-5, .154/.214/.385
  • Johan Rodriguez, 1B: 2-for-4, .275/.326/.350
  • Yassel Garcia, DH: 2-for-4, RBI, R, .186/.397/.244
  • Anferni Gonzalez, SP: 3IP 1H 0R 3BB 2K, 4.62 ERA

Box Score

Solid start for Anferni Gonzalez as he managed to escape three innings of work without any runs despite three walks. He’s a two pitch pitcher that features a low 90s fastball and strong slider. Johan Rodriguez and Yassel Garcia both collected multi-hit games to go along with Mavin Fernadez. The Braves collected nine hits but went 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position, and stranded nine on base.
