Brandon Figueroa got the win over Joet Gonzalez, storming hard in the late rounds to secure the unanimous decision on scores of 115-113, 116-112, and 116-112.
The outcome is going to be debated, because it was a close, hard-hitting affair, and a really good fight from both combatants. Bad Left Hook unofficially scored the fight 115-113 and 116-112, both of our cards for Gonzalez.
Figueroa (26-2-1, 19 KO) started a bit slow in this one, but he dug in hard in the final three rounds especially. Gonzalez
(27-5, 15 KO) showed a lot more visible damage, and took punishment even in rounds you could have given him.
It was a close quarters, back-and-forth action fight, and both should leave with their heads held high, but yes, Gonzalez is going to feel he got the short end here, and for nine rounds, he was probably better than he’s ever been.
Figueroa landed 282 of 1,074 total punches (26%) according to the CompuBox stats on the Prime Video PPV broadcast, including 279 of 948 (29%) power punches, a lot of those totals ramped up in the final three rounds. Gonzalez was 265 of 821 (35%) overall, and 258 of 741 (35%) on power punches.
