The Tampa Bay Rays have released 2020 first round draft pick Nick Bitsko.
Through six games at the Florida Complex League this season, Bitsko had allowed 11 runs on 13 walks and three hits across five innings pitched.
Once upon a time, Bitsko was a 6’4, 225-pound 17-year old social media sensation, with 60 grades for his 98.5 mph fastball and killer curveball, with a 50 for his changeup, and 55 for his control.
Unfortunately, shoulder injuries dealt blow after blow to his career after he signed for $3
million. In his minor league career he never reached higher than nine innings at the Low-A level.
