IG: Deano_Rueckert

BYU hosted one of its top targets earlier this week as 4-Star Wing Dean Rueckert took his official visit to BYU July 28-29. BYU is in Dean’s latest top 5 along with Clemson, Stanford, Washington, and Utah.

Rated the #68 player in the 2026 class according to 247 Sports, the Timpview HS product is a high level shot maker. Dean is primarily an off-ball wing/guard who is a fantastic shooter and can also put the ball on the ball floor and score. One of his

most impressive moments during the high school season was when his Timpview team went toe-to-toe with Tyran Stokes, the #1 recruit in the 2026 class, and his Notre Dame (CA) team which also has two other 4-star players in the 2026 class. Dean looked like the best player on the floor, finishing with 31 points on 6-9 shooting from deep and some highlight defensive plays.

Dean comes from a BYU family, and BYU has made him a priority since Kevin Young became Head Coach. Dean is expected to enroll in college right after high school.

Below are some of Dean’s responses to me about his visit and recruitment.

How was your visit? What were some highlights of it?

The visit was great. Some of the highlights were a zoom call with Jimmer, video with personal messages from former players and getting to know the whole coaching staff better.

What were some of your takeaways from observing practice?

I loved watching practice. It’s fast paced & high energy so it’s fun to watch. They are going to be really good this year, I’m excited to watch them.

How tall are you now?

I’m 6’8” even though everyone always says 6’6”

When do you think you’ll make a decision?

I’m still not sure when I will be making a decision. Hopefully before high school basketball begins.
