The Virginia Tech Hokies picked up their first commitment for 2027 on Friday when three-star quarterback Ben Musser made it official.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Musser is a rising junior at Prince Avenue Christian School in Bogart, Georgia. The Hokies offered Musser last month, but he’s been on their radar for a while. He is the first quarterback recruit to commit to Tech (not a transfer)
under new offensive coordinator Phillip Montgomery.
Musser visited Blacksburg for a camp last month and performed well, which led to the offer. He chose the Hokies over Purdue, Vanderbilt, Cincinnati and others. Musser is also on Clemson’s radar, but has yet to receive an offer from the Tigers.
Musser is a dual-threat quarterback, having passed for almost 1,500 yards and rushed for close to 800 yards during his sophomore season with 23 total touchdowns.
When Musser enrolls in 2027, current starting quarterback Kyron Drones will be gone, as will Garret Rangel. Pop Watson will be entering his redshirt senior season, while incoming freshman passers Kelden Ryan and A.J. Brand will be entering their third season in Blacksburg. That’s providing they all stay, of course, which is not guaranteed in the current landscape of college football.
Welcome home, Ben.
