Arjen Robben and Franck Ribéry are two of Bayern Munich’s greatest legends of the 2000’s, starring in a frightening combination nicknamed “Robbery” that saw the Bavarians regain their status as European powerhouse and conquer all of Europe in 2013. Since the winger duo’s departure from the club in 2019, however, the club has somewhat struggled to replace their impact. Luis Díaz is Bayern’s latest signing for the position on the wing, coming from Liverpool FC.
As soon as it came out that Díaz had taken
a selfie with Robben during his time at Liverpool, the Colombian was always going to be asked about it during his unveiling. Here is what he had to say:
“Everyone knows that Robben is a legend at FC Bayern and the Dutch national team. He’s a benchmark. I met him in Liverpool when he was visiting and asked him for a photo,” Díaz said, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “It was a very pleasant conversation. Meeting him was a big deal for me. He was a great player with fantastic qualities.”
Now it is Díaz’s turn to demonstrate his fantastic qualities in Munich.
