Real Madrid have set their sights on Liverpool
defender Ibrahima Konaté, with the French international reportedly prepared to join the Spanish giants as soon as Liverpool give the green light. According to MARCA, Konaté is committed to a move and would be willing to wait until his contract expires in 2026 if necessary, potentially leaving on a free transfer. However, Liverpool are determined to avoid a repeat of the Trent Alexander-Arnold situation, after the right-back departed for Madrid as a free
agent earlier this summer. With Konaté’s contract winding down, the club may opt to sell now rather than risk losing another key player without a fee.
Konaté is seen as a major upgrade for Madrid’s back line and an ideal partner for rising talent Dean Huijsen. Despite having Antonio Rüdiger, Éder Militão, and David Alaba, new coach Xabi Alonso is keen to improve his defense.
