It was a tale of two halves in the UEFA Women’s Euro final between juggernauts Spain and England.

In the 25th minute, Spain finally opened the scoring with a beautiful sequence of team football, culminating it with a goal, thanks to a Mariona Caldentey header.

They had many chances later in the first half to extend their lead, but could not convert. Spain had more

possession (67%-33%), passes (343-165), shots (7-6), and absolutely dominated the first half.

However, in the second half, Sarina Wiegman and the Lionesses woke up.

In typical Chloe Kelly fashion, she delivered a delightful cross into the box for Alessia Russo who somehow headed it for the equalizer in the 57th minute, falling backwards.

The game reached a point where the tournament’s congested schedule took a toll on the players. Even with the tired legs, both teams still kept pushing forward and gave it everything they had.

After there was no tiebreaking goal, it went into penalties where almost every taker looked uncomfortable. When it comes down to these moments, you need heroes to deliver and that’s exactly what England’s Chloe Kelly and Hannah Hampton did.

Hampton delivered two massive saves and Kelly delivered the final penalty kick to seal it.

“I was cool, I was composed and I knew I was going to hit the back of the net,” said Kelly. “I don’t miss penalties twice.”

Many will call this an upset, and they have every right to do so.

The only reason why they shouldn’t? Sarina Wiegman. She is undefeated in Euro finals and has three titles to her name.

The Lionesses have now won back-to-back Euro championships.

For those who attended the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025, it was officially the highest-attended edition in tournament history.

The game continues to skyrocket in growth with no signs of slowing down.
