Having previously seen their initial offer of €67M (£58M) to sign Liverpool winger Luis Diaz rejected instantly, Bayern Munich have spent the past week weighing up their options and now appear to have settled on making an improved second bid.
According to journalists with ties to the club, the Bavarians have maintained contact and continued transfer discussions over the past week—but reports out of Germany that a second formal bid has already been lodged appear to be premature.
Still, one does appear
to be imminent at this stage. The only question is whether Bayern would be foolish enough to lodge a second formal bid that Liverpool will also reject in short order or if they will submit one that the Reds can actually accept.
While rumours of Liverpool’s valuation of Diaz have peaked as high as €100M (£87M), the past week has seen chatter coalesce around €80M (£70M) as the fee that would convince the defending Premier League champions to sign off on his transfer.
For the player’s part, Diaz is believed to be eager to complete the move with personal terms in place such that when a fee is agreed the pace should pick up and the deal should get done in short order—but Bayern still have to meet Liverpool’s price.
