According to reporters based in Germany today, things are moving in Bayern Munich’s chase for the services of Liverpool FC forward Luis Diaz.
From SPORTBILD’s chief reporter Tobi Altschäffl, there are indications that Liverpool are backing down from their “not-for-sale” stance, with concrete negotiations and meetings between the two clubs.
Separately, another update from the same outlet’s Christian Falk says that Bayern Munich have the funds set aside to sign both Luis Diaz and Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade
this summer. (Which is also a very funny thing to brief to your reporters when you’ve been lowballing Liverpool all summer.)
Liverpool, of course, know this because they beat out Bayern for Florian Wirtz, so they know Bayern were prepared to spend like £100 million on him.
Falk reports that a bid of €80m could bring Liverpool to the negotiation table for Diaz. Which... is what Byaern should have done in the first place because that was pretty much the figure the Liverpool-based journos were throwing out when estimating what Liverpool valued Luis Diaz at!
With the Hugo Ekitike deal looking like it’s going to be finalised in the next few days, and Bayern finally opening up the wallet for Diaz, expect Liverpool to move on to signing a centre-back, and a left-wing option to replace the Colombian next.
