An immensely popular and influential rock musician and pioneering reality television star, WWE will hardly be the first thing Ozzy Osbourne will be remembered for. But as we heard about Osbourne’s death at age 76 today (July 22), it was among the things we remembered about the former Black Sabbath frontman, “Crazy Train” singer, and The Osbornes star.

a salmon-colored suit years before Mark Henry would make that look famous in pro wrestling.

He would be back multiple times in the 2000s during the heyday of his family’s reality series on MTV, often with wife Sharon. The couple were featured on a memorable talent show edition of Raw from its guest host era.

Those appearances, and the use of his music through the years, earned Osbourne a spot in the company’s Hall of Fame as part of their 2021 class.

Sabbath’s “War Pigs” remains the theme song of WWE’s WarGames-themed Survivor Series premium live event each November, as well.

Health problems were a recurring theme for Ozzy in the last decade or so of his life, including being diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2020. That disease prevented Osbourne from being able to stand at his final concert earlier this month in his hometown of Birmingham, England; instead he sang while seated in a black throne.

Thanks for the memories, Ozzy —the ones you made in our little corner of the pop culture world, and the even bigger ones you made outside it.
