According to a report from Tz journalists Philipp Kessler and Mano Bonke (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl has some work set out ahead of him.
The executive, who has made several outgoing transactions involving young players this summer so far, is now set to focus on selling veterans like João Palhinha and Kim Min-jae:
After the departures of talents like Mathys Tel and Adam Aznou, and loans like Bryan Zaragoza’s to Celta Vigo, Max Eberl now wants to offload
ADmore established players. Eberl has made it clear internally in recent days that the sales of João Palhinha and Kim Min-jae are now a priority.
Tottenham are showing strong interest in the Portuguese midfielder, but they prefer a loan. Palhinha is now more open to a move. Galatasaray, among other clubs, have Kim on their radar. Fenerbahçe have also considered bringing him back, with coach José Mourinho a fan, but they ultimately signed Skriniar from PSG.
While Palhinha plays no role at all in Vincent Kompany’s plans, Kim is highly valued by the Belgian. The defender is also fit again after his Achilles tendonitis and has recently made a good impression in training. Palhinha already sensed during the Club World Cup that his substitute role would remain unchanged. Moreover, there are more options in the squad in central midfield than in central defense. Eberl and his team are keeping their eyes and ears open for a defender in the market.
The Min-jae situation is one to watch. The Korean is reportedly healthy and the team absolutely needs three starting-caliber center-backs on the roster. The problem? Min-jae has been rumored to be a player who wants to start...or wants out. Will that ultimately be the case?
Things could already be in motion. Earlier today, we saw Al-Nassr link to Min-jae and Palhinha linked to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Bavarians finalized the much-anticipated signing of Luis Díaz from Liverpool FC to give the team a new look at left-wing? Will the 28-year-old get an early starting nod or will Vincent Kompany hold him out a bit longer? That will be just one of the key decisions made for the match against Olympique Lyon at the Allianz Arena.
