Real Madrid have agreed upon a contract extension with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois that will keep him at the club till 2027, Mario Cortegana of The Athletic reports.
Courtois’ original contract was set to run until 2026, but Real Madrid has made an exception to their extension rule for players over 30, extending Courtois' deal by an extra year.
The report also says that the player will get a salary boost, which is also an exception to their rule.
He would be the second player to renew his Real Madrid
contract in the summer, after Raul Asencio renewed his till 2031.
Brahim Diaz is also set to follow suit, with an improved contract on the way for the Moroccan winger as well.
Courtois is arguably the best goalkeeper in world football, and it is brilliant to see Real Madrid break their exception for a player as good as him. He is one of the most important players in Real Madrid’s lineup, and fans will be happy to see that continue for another two years.
