This week, the Atlanta Falcons gave us reason to celebrate by announcing that the iconic throwback red helmets will make not one, not two, but three appearances in 2025. That’s right—three glorious opportunities to watch the Falcons take the field in one of the cleanest looks in all of football.

And let’s be honest: good things tend to happen when the Falcons wears those throwbacks. Since 2009, the Falcons are 13-3 when wearing the red helmets, per myself.
Trust me, I looked it up. Additionally, the team went 3-0 in 2024 when wearing them. If you’re superstitious, or just a fan of great aesthetics, that’s a stat worth paying attention to.
The team revealed they’ll don the throwbacks in the following matchups:
• Week 6 vs. Buffalo Bills
• Week 15 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
• Week 17 vs. Los Angeles Rams
Some interesting notes about these matchups, first off the Bills and Rams games both take place on Monday Night Football. The Buccaneers game you may have noticed will take place on the road in Tampa. To my knowledge, this has to be the first time the Falcons are wearing their throwback uniforms on the road since they stopped wearing them in 1970. It’s possible that since the Buccaneers game is a Thursday night game, Tampa may also wear their all-white throwbacks that they announced the same day. We shall see.
Regardless, I’m very excited to see some red helmet energy take the field three times this upcoming season.
