Everton’s pursuit of Southampton’s exciting young winger Tyler Dibling is yet to be resolved. Having had a £27 million bid declined for the starlet a few days ago, the Toffees were expected to be back again for the player.
Per Sky Sports today though, it looks like Everton have not only made a second bid but also followed up with a third offer of about £35m with a further £8m in add-ons, which has now also been turned down. It appears the Saints are holding out for £45m, and with the Toffees as determined
as they are, it should just be a matter of time before the two clubs come to an agreement. Former Saints manager last season was famously reported as claiming that the player should be valued at £100m.
Dibling did not feature for Southampton in their 2-2 preseason friendly draw against Brighton & Hove Albion at St Mary’s on Saturday, but did play in a closed-doors 60-minute game against the Seagulls earlier in the day.
The Blues’ interest in Dibling is well-founded, with the Saints’ 19-year-old winger attracting attention for his skill and tenacity on the ball. The report card on the winger is impressive - his dribbling ability and close control are strengths, as are his vision and passing range. His physical presence and strength mean he does not get bullied off the ball easily.
With reports that the Toffees are close to confirming the signing of central midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea, that’ll leave just right back and right wing as immediate areas of need to address on David Moyes’ squad.
