‘Platinum’ Wants To Whoop McGregor On White House Lawn

WHAT'S THE STORY?

Add “Platinum” Mike Perry to the list of fighters looking to compete on the 4th of July UFC card at the White House next year.

Last week President Donald Trump announced that he wanted a UFC card on the White House lawn as a part of the America 250 celebrations surrounding the 4th of July. Since then we’ve had Jon Jones come out of retirement

for a chance to fight there, and Conor McGregor saying he was all in on the card.

at the White House, and he’s willing to be Conor McGregor’s dance partner.

“I want UFC to bring me back for the White House card to fight Conor McGregor instead of Michael Chandler,” Perry said on his Overdogs podcast. “What weight are they doing? I’ll cut to 170 for that.”

“Mike is like, ‘I need a BKFC fight, I need a Dirty Boxing fight, I need a UFC fight,’” his co-host Ice Bagz joked. “‘I’ll fight you behind the 7-11 later tonight around 10PM.’”

“They’ve been dicking me around, bro,” Perry said of his difficulty getting a fight. “Been yanking my chain.”

Perry has had an extremely impressive post-UFC run, going 5-0 in bare knuckle boxing and 1-1 in more traditional boxing. He was fighting twice a year until losing via TKO to Jake Paul in July 2024. Since then he’s struggled to book a fight, with McGregor very publicly ‘firing’ him from BKFC.

While “Platinum” got into a shoving match with BKFC welterweight champ David Mundell at a recent press conference, McGregor said they had “one of the baddest man to ever grace the Ultimate Fighting Championship” lined up to fight Perry on October 11th.

“You’re welcome back because I welcomed you back,” McGregor said. “Oct. 11 is your date, and you’ll dance for me, boy. You’ll dance for the owner, and then we can talk.”

A White House fight between McGregor and Perry seems unlikely given the amount of money “Platinum” is making these days outside of the UFC. But McGregor has two fights left on his UFC contract, and then anything is possible. Will the Mac ever complete those two fights? That’s a very real question. While McGregor is averaging several scandals a year, he hasn’t fought once in the past four years.

While UFC CEO Dana White has said he loves the idea of McGregor fighting at the White House, it still requires “The Notorious” to get back into camp and fighting shape, something we doubt is a realistic possibility these days.
