Astros 4, Red Sox 1: Well, Shoot

WHAT'S THE STORY?

Alas, another series loss. The game started off on a low note, as Buehler gave up 2 runs in the bottom of the first, but the Sox gained a run back and it looked like there was still a shot at winning. That is, until Hunter Brown locked in and then Walker Buehler, after settling in well, gave up another 2 runs. Other than that, there wasn’t too much to say. Alex Cora got himself ejected for reasons that I’m not totally sure of, but it didn’t fire up the fellas to get more runs.

Three Studs:

Ceddane Rafaela: Got

the Sox their only run today with an RBI single.

Steven Matz/Greg Weissert: Didn’t give up any runs in their relief appearances.

The defense: No errors, which is a positive development after a 3-error game yesterday.

Two Duds, but they were Big:

The Offense (REALLY Big Dud): Only scoring one run usually won’t win you games. There were several RISP chances that were squandered as well. Hunter Brown is good and all, but he wasn’t on his A-Game tonight and the Sox should’ve been able to take much better advantage.

Walker Buehler (Smaller Dud): I can’t fault him too much because he did give the Sox a chance to win, but a line that wasn’t ideal: 6 IP, 4 hits, 4 runs (all earned), 4 walks (yuck), and 3 strikeouts.

Play of the Game: [ERROR 404: Play of the Game not Found]

Nothing was outstanding enough to warrant Play of the Game, on either side, if I’m being honest. A two-run go-ahead homer to ice the game is something, but the Astros did it, and it was only a two-run home run, and they would’ve won without that home run anyway. Whatever.
