Day 14 of Cleveland Browns training camp took place Thursday. Here is our recap of the session.
Cleveland Browns Training Camp Report – Day 14 (8/14/25)
1. QB Situation: It is crazy how the Browns entered this camp with four quarterbacks competing for a spot, and yet for the second preseason game, we’re here talking about how the fifth guy they signed (Tyler Huntley
) might just play the entire game this Saturday. The latest update from practice today is that Kevin Stefanski elaborated a bit on Shedeur Sanders’ oblique injury, saying they are “putting him
down for a little bit,” treating him day-by-day. While they did not rule him out for Saturday’s preseason game, he is unlikely to play. Joe Flacco will not play, and neither will Kenny Pickett. It sounds like Dillon Gabriel is the favorite to start right now, but that is contingent on how his hamstring feels in the coming days. That means it could come down to Huntley.
With that said, Sanders was still dressed for practice, did stretches, and handed the ball to running backs during warm-ups — just no throwing.
2. Another Former Player: In yesterday’s joint practice report, I noted how former Browns defensive end Ogbo Okoronkwo and long snapper Charley Hughlett are on the Eagles. I neglected to mention that former Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson is also there, via the trade involving Kenny Pickett. We might see DTR in action this weekend against Cleveland.
3. Kelce in the House: Local Clevelander and former Eagle Jason Kelce was at practice, talking with Browns owner Jimmy Haslam beforehand:
4. Get Those Hands Ready: Per Zac Jackson, when QB Joe Flacco was up first, he threw what would have been a touchdown pass to TE Harold Fannin Jr, but he dropped it. In their next try, though, Fannin held on to a touchdown pass from Flacco.
5. Catching Up on Some Observations: After we published the training camp report from the first joint practice, a few more interesting notes came in, so I thought I’d share them here. First up was that the defensive line caused problems for Philly:
And then that continued into Day 2 of the joint sessions:
6. Browns Win the Battle: The Browns won the battle on offense and defense to close out practice, scoring a lot of touchdowns on offense and locking down the Eagles’ offense. The only quarterbacks who got reps in team drills were Flacco (7-of-10 for 2 TD) and Gabriel (1-of-5 for 1 TD). Gabriel would’ve had another touchdown, but it was dropped by WR Diontae Johnson.
Here is Ward with that pass breakup:
Then QB Joe Flacco hitting WR Jerry Jeudy:
Here is QB Dillon Gabriel with the touchdown pass:
And then lastly, Flacco hitting TE David Njoku for the score:
7. Brotherly Love: After practice, Eagles OL Landon Dickerson bonded with his brothers on the other side, sharing some Miller Lites with them.
8. From the Eagles’ Perspective: Here is a report from an Eagles reporter, declaring the Browns the victor of the joint practice:
9. Brownies: WR Diontae Johnson received some practice for his work against the Eagles’ corners. … TE Brenden Bates also dropped a touchdown pass from QB Dillon Gabriel. … QB Kenny Pickett hopes he’s turning the corner and can play next week.
10. Next Up: The Browns will play their second preseason game this Saturday at 1:00 pm in Philadelphia. The Browns’ next training camp practice will be Tuesday, August 19.
