Bayern Munich academy prospect, Paul Wanner, has been heavily linked with a loan move and even a potential transfer away from Die Roten this summer, but despite interest from multiple clubs, the young German talent looks set to stay put, for the moment.

After a meeting between Max Eberl, Bayern’s chief sports officer, and Roland Virkus, Gladbach sporting director, to discuss a loan move for Wanner, Bayern appears to be balking. The reason? The void left after Jamal Musiala’s horrific injury, as both

players operate in the same position.

According to Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern are however willing to change their mind if a replacement is signed for the position.

Max Eberl and Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director Roland Virkus held a meeting at Tegernsee, where Gladbach are holding a training camp, to discuss a potential loan deal for Paul Wanner. As of now, Bayern are unwilling to let Wanner go after Musiala’s injury, but as soon as a player is signed for the position, the club will change its stance. Wanner’s camp is pushing for a move. Opinion

Personally, I would love to see Wanner get the chance to step into the position. After all, hasn’t Bayern president, Herbert Heiner, been urging the club to look towards their academy more?

The statement, “but as soon as a player is signed for the position, the club will change its stance,” is surely a reference to Bayern’s attempt to sign Nick Woltemade, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder. However, since Bayern have cooled their interest in the six-foot-six attacker due to Stuttgart’s stubbornness, Wanner may just get his chance after all.
