Barcelona sporting director Deco has reportedly met with some people close to Xavi Simons to talk about the future.
Diario Sport are reporting that Deco met with Ali Barat, who is confusingly described as “not being his agent as such” but a person “who has some power in the Dutch player’s decision-making.” Simons’ brother Faustino was also at the meeting.
The meeting was held in a hotel in Barcelona and lasted around 45 minutes. Rather curiously, it seems the chat focused on how a Barcelona move for
Simons really isn’t likely this summer.
There has been talk of Simons heading back to Barcelona before, but his €70 million price tag is way out of the club’s reach at present or, as Sport say, “completely unaffordable.”
There’s also the problem that Flick already thinks he has too many midfielders, meaning there’s very little chance of Barca adding another this summer.
Yet Simons is apparently really eager to leave RB Leizipg this summer, and has always hankered after a Barca return, probably why this rumor keeps on cropping up.
