Fiorentina’s got quite a preseason to get through this year. Stefano Pioli is back for his second stint as manager and has set his goal as a top four finish. That’s ambitious, certainly, but not impossible. If he wants to get there, though, the work begins now.
This is the right time to remind everyone that preseason friendlies aren’t predictive of the real games. Every professional player looks amazing against semi-professional opposition. Every teenager will sparkle. Everything will look rosy. It’s
fine to enjoy the preseason but don’t base real opinions off it because you will get burned once the season actually starts.
