I think about Tim every time I do the dishes. So, literally every day. In particular, I think about how he’d be gently shaming me right now if he knew how long it had been since I cleaned out the filter in the dishwasher that he advised me on installing myself. Like me, Tim had progressively become more adept at fixing household things that eventually break when you own a house (faucets, dishwashers. garbage disposals, etc) and as a fellow dad, he was always more than willing to help me with finding
resources on “how to hard wire a dishwasher” and dole out other clutch pieces of home maintenance advice.
We all need a Tim-type in our lives. And I will always be thankful for that. But, as many of you know, Tim was so much more than that. If you’re new to the community, make sure you read Isabelle’s eulogy/LL highlight reel for Tim. In addition to being a loving father and husband, a skilled lawyer, and a devout Mariners fan, he was undeniably, devastatingly funny in an unsuspecting kind of way.
It’ll be four years in Tim’s absence this coming November. Four years of my idle dish washing thoughts drifting off to thinking about Tim in between being interrupted by my own children. I obviously cannot compare my own grief to that of his family’s and closest friends, but I do continue to find solace in keeping his memory alive in my own ways. Speaking of, it’s time to play softbaLL!

Tim’s Favorite Charities
Once again, I am sharing Tim’s favorite non profits and as always, it’s completely optional. In 2022, I asked Tim’s wife what we could do if people wanted to make donations of some kind in Tim’s memory if they didn’t get a chance to do so when he passed and she suggested three of Tim’s favorite non profit charities that he was a big fan of supporting during his life. So, if you are inclined, you are very welcome to make a gift in Tim’s memory to any of these organizations:
The Okaja Foundation - Supports a home for orphans and impoverished children in Nigeria. From Tim’s wife: “We knew the husband of the founder from college, and Muji has become a long-distance dear friend over the past few years. Tim loved to support their mission, and they named their new playground and athletic field in his memory.”
3W Medical for Women - Provides free and low-cost women’s reproductive health services here in Washington.
The Coffee Oasis - Located in downtown Bremerton, the Coffee Oasis provides resources to unhoused and at-risk youth.
Sound off in the comments if you can make it. Hope to see lots of new and old friends alike as we honor Tim’s memory!
