Liverpool Women have continued their work in the transfer market, this time giving a new contract to Japan International Fuka Nagano. Nagano arrived at Merseyside from the North Carolina Courage in 2023 and has been a fixture in the midfield ever since.
After losing both Taylor Hinds and Olivia Smith to Arsenal this summer, it is good to see the club retaining a talent like Nagano for another season. She has made 64 appearances for the Reds in her two seasons with the club.
With 26 appearances last
season, Nagano nabbed four assists and even her first goal for the club. It was a memorable way to open her account, scoring the second, decisive goal in a 3-1 victory over Manchester United just at the stroke of halftime back in March.
Nagano follows Ceri Holland, Rachael Laws, Faye Kirby and Mia Enderby in signing extensions to remain on Merseyside next season.
The team faces a tough challenge in their fourth season back in the Women’s Super League. Having lost some key players and still looking for a new manager to replace Matt Beard and interim coach Amber Whiteley, there will be a lot of adjustments going on when the season kicks off in the fall.
