Jonathan Tan is the biggest signing of Bayern Munich’s summer so far, though Liverpool FC’s Luis Díaz is looking to change that soon. Though Tah came on a free transfer, he will command hefty wages after the Bavarians won out in a race for his signature against FC Barcelona. Key to these two big clubs wanting his services is his experience, as the 29-year-old emerged into a critical leader at Xabi Alonso-led and Bundesliga winning Bayer Leverkusen.

in a system with 3 center backs. Transitioning to a system like current Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany’s, which involves just two center backs at a time (a left sided one and a right sided one), the question is whether Tan is best suited to playing as the left center back or the right center back. Asked this question recently, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, the former Hamburg SV player had this to say: “We played with a back four many times in Leverkusen. I think we played it most often against Bayern. With a back three, it was in the middle, and with a back four, it doesn’t matter whether it’s on the right or left.”

Well, one supposes that it is a simple answer to this rather simple question.
