Highlights! Moses Itauma scores violent first-round knockout of Dillian Whyte, Usyk next? | video

WHAT'S THE STORY?

Rising boxing sensation, Moses Itauma, was back in action earlier today (Sat., Aug. 16, 2025), as the undefeated (12-0) Heavyweight knockout artist faced off against Dillian Whyte in the headlining championship bout in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Itauma — who is the current WBA International and WBO Inter-Continental Heavyweight champion — didn’t waste time in letting everyone know why he is, in fact, the real deal and the future of the division, taking it to Whyte — the former WBC interim Heavyweight champion of the world

— using his blistering speed to pop off his offense.

Halfway through the opening round, Itauma really put his foot on the gas pedal and started to unload combination after combination on his helpless foe, who simply had no answer for the barrage of powerful bombs coming his way. For Itauma, it was nothing more than target practice as he continued to unload until clipping Whyte with an crossing right hook that sent the 37 year-old crashing to the canvas.

Whyte — who tried his best to stumble his way to an upright standing position — wouldn’t recover to answer the standing eight count as the referee put an end to the bout. Here’s another look:

With the win, the 20-year old Itauma improves to 13-0 and collects his eleventh knockout win. Perhaps what the most impressive part of the Brawling Brit’s win — other than his speed and precision — was his calm, cool and collected approach to get the finish. He never got overzealous and he didn’t get ahead of himself, all while picking his powerful shots carefully.

That said, he still has a lot of room for growth since he just made his pro debut a little under three years ago… which is a very, very scary thought for the rest of the division. After the fight, The Ring revealed that Turki Alalshikh is already lobbying for a fight between Itauma and undisputed champion, Oleksandr Usyk.

But will it be too much, too soon for the young Heavyweight?
