AEW fans got a PPV-caliber main event smack dab in the middle of Dynamite tonight (July 30) when Hangman Page and Jon Moxley had their latest clash to start the episode’s second hour. A rematch of All In Texas’ main event World title Deathmatch, but this time without the hardcore stipulation and with Mox’s Death Riders, his various enemies, and Hangman’s allies banned from ringside, along with everyone else.
To maintain that, security was placed around the ring at the start. As all five previous Page/Moxley
matches have been, this was a hard-hitting affair from the opening bell.

A piledriver on the ring steps put the challenger in the driver’s seat... until the champ started to get back on his horse with by countering into Dead Eye on the announce desk.

His roll was slowed when referee Paul Turner was “accidentally” taken out by Moxley’s leg on another Dead Eye attempt. That allowed the Death Riders to make their approach to the ring, but as security headed off Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta, Marina Shafir snuck in and slipped the belt to Mox. He smashed it into Page’s head while he was going for a Buckshot Lariat, but Hangman kicked out to a huge pop from the boisterous Aragon Ballroom crowd.
Turner noticed Shafir at that point, and booted her from ringside. As the Riders were slinking away, Darby Allin appeared in a balcony and dove down to take them out.

With the stage clear again, the champ was able to counter a piledriver into another Dead Eye, and follow that up with the Buckshot to retain.

We’ll see what’s next for Mox and the Riders. MJF has a contract for a World title match in his possession, but is trying to goad Page into giving him a shot without using it. So far no dice, as Hanger says there are more deserving men than Max... namely Mark Briscoe.
