Earlier on Saturday, we had seen Liverpool head coach Arne Slot address the situation of winger Luis Diaz, who is rumored to be heading to Bayern Munich.

Slo’s initial statement (covered here) was not extensive, but the coach went deeper into it later when speaking to The Athletic:

“In Lucho’s situation it was (linked to his future), yeah,” Slot told The Athletic (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “There are a lot of rumours around it lately and I cannot go into that. He is training really well with us

but we have decided, for now, not to play him yet.

“Yes (I’ve spoken to Diaz about it) but I am used to talking to most of my players on a regular basis. Like I said, Lucho is training really well, but we’ve decided that he is best not playing at the moment in the games and I cannot comment much more than that.”

When asked if Diaz really wanted to leave Liverpool, Slot only offered this statement: “I am not the person to ask.”

  • €75 million might be Bayern’s magic number for Liverpool’s Luis Diaz — and we think we finally know why we have been feeling so iffy about the situation.
  • Bayern made its last bid on Nick Woltemade, which could still fall short of the mark. If that fails...who’s next? Maybe of three Red Bull-related players.
  • Are we headed into an era of stability at Bayern Munich? Despite rumors of disconnect, there could be a pathway forward to structure.
