His return made it official, so let’s talk Roman’s new OTC1 nickname

As we were waiting for his annual post-WrestleMania return, a rumor hit that Roman Reigns would be going by a new nickname when he made his way back to WWE.

That nickname, which we just recently heard was Reigns’ own brainchild, would build on his previous Tribal Chief and OTC monikers by adding a “1” to the latter — “OTC1” or “Tribal Chief 1”.

Initial reactions from Rumor Round-up commenters wasn’t exactly favorable. It did give the Cageside Community a chance to make the most popular joke about Roman’s

new nickname, some of which are quite funny even if you’ve seen a bunch of these OTC1 riffs on pharmaceutical commercials:

Many on the wrestle web agree with the initial Round-up reaction... many made their versions of the same Big Pharma joke. This fan raised one of the same points our Marcus Benjamin did while weighing in on “OTC1” in his review of Monday’s Raw. She also channeled an old CM Punk bit in the process:

Not everyone is hating on OTC1, however. This person both explains one of the likely reasons Reigns & WWE are using his new handle, and proposes a work-around so fans don’t have to use it themselves:

“I’m not calling him OTC1”

Ok then just call him “OTC”
