Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic continues to train with his current teammates at Cotinassa just like everybody else. There are preparations for the season going on, but there is the very large elephant in the room involving his future at the club and just when it might actually be resolved.
While there isn’t much of a clearer picture as July turns to August, we know Juventus are at least talking to one club about Vlahovic’s future. And continue to talk to them, too.
According to SportItalia’s Alfredo
Pedulla on Thursday night, Juventus and AC Milan held more talks about a potential deal for Vlahovic, who has been locked in as an essential lock to leave Turin this summer amidst not extending his contract to lower his salary and plenty of on-field disappointment during his 3 1⁄2 seasons in bianconero. This comes after Pedulla’s reporting last week that the two rivals have had “indirect” talks regarding a potential move for Vlahovic, who weighs heavily on Juve’s books thanks to his Serie A-high €12 million net salary. Where things stand when it comes to these talks is hard to say, but they are talking — and as we head into the final few weeks of the summer transfer window, this currently feels like the only potential option that is out there for Juventus to have a potential sale.

The contacts between Juventus and Milan regarding Vlahovic go back to the first week of June, according to Pedulla. Those talks continued with the “indirect” contacts last week and now, the latest, coming on the final day of July.
This report from Pedulla comes just a few hours after Juventus general manager Damien Comolli told a small group of reporters from the Italian media that Vlahovic “can leave if a suitable offer comes in, but at the moment, it has not arrived,”
It hasn’t arrived just yet, according to Comolli, but they’re talking!
(Hey, this has been a summer in which most of the stuff regarding Vlahovic has been about what hasn’t happened yet, so we gotta take the positives where we can, people.)
So Juve and Milan are talking Vlahovic. We don’t know how advanced or what the chances are of something actually happening, but something is taking place in terms of talks. That’s a first step, I guess. But when it comes to these chats, Pedulla has said something rather important: Vlahovic is very much interested in a move to Milan.
Making it happen, however, is going to be the tougher part. You have the whole situation with his lofty salary, one that Milan certainly can’t afford. (They’re highest paid player, Rafael Leao, makes about half as much as Vlahovic currently does.) There’s a matter of potential severance pay to resolve as well. Then, of course, there’s the two clubs agreeing to an actual transfer fee, which could be around €20 million at its highest figure.
It ain’t going to be easy to make it all happen. But they’re talking — and that’s more than we can say about a lot more than most rumored destinations for Vlahovic this summer.
