The Brewers started August with a win and hope to carry that momentum through the weekend with Brandon Woodruff making the start on Saturday.
Woodruff’s 2.01 ERA through four starts has been an excellent addition to the rotation. Through 22 1⁄3 innings of work, he’s struck out 29 batters as well, while walking just three batters. All of those walks came in his last start, but he’s been stellar since returning from injury.
Jake Irvin will be Washington’s starter. The righty holds a 4.69 ERA entering
today’s game. He’s given up at least three runs in eight of his 11 starts since May 30.
Milwaukee’s lineup starts with Sal Frelick up top. Frelick, starting in right field, will be joined by Blake Perkins and Isaac Collins in the outfield.
Andrew Vaughn starts at first base as his renaissance with Milwaukee continues. He’s posted a 1.220 OPS with the Brewers. Brice Turang, Joey Ortiz, and Anthony Seigler fill out the rest of the infield.
William Contreras starts behind the plate with Christian Yelich at designated hitter.
The game will be exclusively televised on Apple TV+, and — as always — available via radio on the Brewers Radio Network. First pitch is slated for 5:45 p.m. CT.
