Chelsea youngster Leo Castledine was expected to leave the club this summer on a permanent transfer, and while he is indeed on his way out, it is only on a loan.
As confirmed this morning, the 19-year-old midfielder will spent the season at Huddersfield Town, who are hoping that he will bring the usual Cobham Excellence™ that the likes of Izzy Brown, Kasey Palmer, and Levi Colwill had shown with the Terriers over the course of the last decade or so. Brown and Palmer were instrumental in their promotion
to the Premier League in 2017, as was Colwill when they came just a few minutes shy of doing so again in 2022.
Huddersfield have been going the wrong way since, and currently find themselves in the third division. Perhaps Castledine can help them turn things around under new manager Lee Grant.
“We’re all looking forward to working with Leo and helping him add to his game and contribute to the team this season. I’m aware of the history the Club has had with loan arrivals from Chelsea, and we certainly hope Leo’s time with us will be a similar story of success.”

Castledine has just one year left on his Chelsea contract, though apparently we do have an option to extend it by 12 months (or he may have signed an extension before heading out).
Good luck, Leo!
